Pre-School / Pre-Kindergarten Admission
Preschool admission begins with a phone call or email. Interested families should call or email the admission office to set up a campus tour. Children are placed on a waitlist once a tour has been given. The waitlist is ordered by “date of call.” Entrance to our preschool programs occurs twice a year in September and June. Children MUST be fully toilet trained and 2.9 years old to enter. Priority is given to siblings and returning students first.

Upon completion of Re-enrollment Paperwork by current families, we will know how many spaces are available for new students in any given program. New student enrollment begins in January with a Waitlist Update Form. The purpose of the Waitlist Update Form is to determine the number of families on the list that are ready to enroll and whether they need full or part-time placements.

Once all of these forms are returned, we will know prospective numbers interested in each program. After we look at the number of interested families and the available spaces, we will send out Enrollment Paperwork. It is possible that spaces for all interested and age appropriate children will not be available during an enrollment season (e.g. Sept.).

Families wishing to remain on the waitlist will be considered for the next enrollment season (e.g. June) and stay on the waitlist unless they indicate otherwise. Families will be given a time period to respond to us about an opening. If the time expires or the family is not ready for any reason to accept an opening, we will go to the next name on the waitlist to fill the opening.

Families can choose a 2, 3 or 5-day program for Preschool and Pre-K programs. We do not offer half-day programming. If a family chooses to pick its child up or drop them off for a half-day, they will be required to pay the full day rate. Also, if a family would like a 4-day placement, they will need to pay the full week (5-day) rate.

Tuition & financial support
Shaker Road School tuition payments are made through a convenient and trusted tuition management company called Tuition Management Systems. Families can choose one of three payment options for the balance of tuition after the deposit. The three payment options are annual (one), semi-annual (two) or monthly (ten). Specific rates can be obtained by contacting our business office.

It is understood that students are enrolled for the entire school year. Fractional contracts are not available even when tuition payments are made in installments. If a student is absent, withdrawn or dismissed from school, families are still obligated to pay the tuition as though the student were in fact still enrolled for the entire year.

Considering this unconditional obligation, tuition refund insurance is available through The Tuition Refund Plan. This is the opportunity to insure fees and protect your investment in the event of an absence, withdrawals, or dismissal. The Tuition Refund Plan is strongly recommended for all families, but is required for semiannual and monthly payment options.

For more information regarding tuition, tuition refund insurance or tuition management please contact our business office at (603) 224-0161 or e-mail by CLICKING HERE.

Financial Aid
Financial aid, although limited, is available for those who qualify based solely on each family’s demonstrated financial need. Families looking for financial aid must complete and submit an application, available at Shaker Road, to SSS (School and Student Services) in Princeton, New Jersey. Families must re-apply for financial aid each year so grants may be adjusted if the family’s financial situation changes.

For more specific information regarding financial aid or the process, please contact our business office at (603) 224-0161 or e-mail by CLICKING HERE.

SECONDARY SCHOOL PLACEMENT
Shaker Road School students leave us with skills nurtured, in many cases, from preschool age.  The significant academic demands have prepared our students for success in any secondary school they choose to attend. In addition, students have acquired and developed skills outside the classroom through opportunities in student government, athletics, arts, and various other activities.

An increasing number of Shaker Road graduates apply to independent secondary schools. Our placement office counsels the seventh and eighth graders and their families about their choices and works to match each student to an appropriate secondary school based on the individuals’ needs and interests. Entrance into independent secondary schools continues to be competitive and Shaker Road strives to keep up with the demands for applicants to be quality students academically and socially.

We are very proud of our graduates and their accomplishments.  As noted by the secondary schools they attend, Shaker Road students perform well academically and are a welcome addition to their high school communities. Our alumni remember Shaker Road as a caring environment where all students were accepted and which provided a strong foundation for their futures.

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Shaker Road School has offered an inclusive educational program for boys and girls since its inception in 1979. Shaker Road School is approved by the State of New Hampshire as a certified Special Education Program.

Students with educational handicapping conditions have always been included in the classrooms and programs available with their non-handicapped peers. Shaker Road believes that it is in a student’s best interest to have all parties working in unison in the best interest of the children served. The outcomes for students with special education challenges are similar to those of their peers, given the necessary modifications that are made depending upon their individual needs.

It is our belief that the inclusion of a child with educational disabilities not only benefits the student with challenges, but also enhances the understanding and acceptance of all students in the classroom regarding the similarities and differences that exist among people. This program philosophy of students with special needs directly reflects the mission statement that all students are continuously challenged to recognize their self-worth and respect the diversity of others.

A meeting with the Special Education Coordinator of Shaker Road School is required prior to the enrollment of a student with an Individualized Education Plan or any special need requirements. Students may be placed here by their local school districts, if accepted by the Admissions committee.
